Well, finally after nine months of work (no really, idea started at Comic Con last July), our internet baby is ready to be unveiled to the world.   With An Accent is our answer to the fact that if you don't have a big budget corporation behind you, your work is likely to be largely ignored by the viewing/listening/reading public.  We're trying to change that so that we can help more people find out just how awesome in it's badness Merlin is, how the Thursday Next series are some of the best books every written (IMHO), and how great Athlete's music is.  We'll be doing it with everything from Recaps to Editorials to Event Coverage, and everything inbetween.  :-)

Colin, Anthony, Johnny and Julian are all confirmed to be attending Con this year.  Do you have any idea how much I am freaking out right now?!?!?!  It's actually more than when I found out David and RTD would be at the Who panel last year.  OMG.  Plus, there's something related to that that isn't 100% so I won't go on...but this could be the best Con EVAR.

Also, tomorrow is my birthday...best Birthday News EVAR for sure.

Not only have I not posted in ::runs to check when last post was:: HOLY CRAP, the 19th of April...I haven't even looked at my friends list since then.  Yep, I'm fired.  I'm not going to bore you with stories of working on the US Census (but OMG the stories I could tell)...but that's my excuse.  Being very very busy.  I haven't even seen my RL friends much, to be honest.  I feel so cut off.  :(

So yeah...I have no idea what's going on in the world of LJ and most specifically the Merlin and DW fandoms.  I know filming is happening at Pierrefonds of course, 'cause it's June.  I know about the big reveal about Series 3 from Expo and have seen some pics.  I've mostly kept up with fic (Merlin...I don't remember the last DW one I read, ::is sad::).

So um, if anyone's still reading this thing...what should I know?!  What amazing set reports haven't I heard?!  Pictures I haven't seen?!  And if there's a fic out there I must read...please, tell me.  I wanna try and catch up.  

I'm also already gearing up for the insanity and awesomeness that is Comic Con in just over a month.  So please please please tell me if you hear anything about it.  I love getting amped for Con.  Especially since there's a very slight and not likely, but hey...they have talked about it, chance that there'll be a Merlin presence this year.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for it so I can have another marathon 36 hours without sleep ala the pre David Tennant at Comic Con insanity I experienced last year 'cause yes, I was exhausted but it was SO WORTH IT.

I'll try not to disappear again...'cause I just love fandoms too much and I can't do it anymore.

Oh, btw...my bday this year?  Totally at a place called Camelot.  Why yes, I am a nerd.  Thanks for asking.  ;-)

This is actually something I posted on my Merlin journal two days ago, but forgot to cross post here.  Whoops!

I've been horrible again about posting & reading other people's posts lately.  I do have a good excuse though.  I'm currently working 5 different jobs (yes FIVE), and this past week (6 days) I worked every single one of them for a total well over 8 hours a day.  ::is exhausted:: 

The last one, which may end up taking over my life completely for the next few months (it's still all very confusing 'cause they can't make their minds up about who is doing what) is the Census Bureau.  Yep, I'm helping with this years Census.  So if you don't send your form back and you live in the LA area I may eventually be knocking on your door.  ;-)  This week we're doing a Homeless count (yep, they need to be counted too), and something else which should be really insane, but I'm not really supposed to talk about 'cause of the whole privacy thing.  It's all been very educational so far, I'm getting paid really well, and can't help but feel like I'm doing something good for my country ('cause the Census is so important for the House and funding).  It's pretty rad. 

Of course, the scheduling is kinda wonky, they're still working out the kinks...so I could just be working this week, or I could end up working through Mid-May or even Mid-July.  Won't know either way really until it just kinda happens.  And the craziest thing?  I can work 7 days a week as long as they don't work me over 40 hours!  So don't be surprised if I remain silent for awhile!  I'll try not to though...but considering this is going to take over my life and I can't really talk about it...I don't even know that there'll be a lot to say anyway.

Though...we have decided to go to Wonder Con after all next weekend.  My crew leader for the Census was like "GO," and is working the schedule around it for me...and considering I do have a lot of work before me for that Archaeological project still, and maybe a few months worth of work for the Census...we decided we could afford it after all.  Especially 'cause denara  is letting us stay at her parents place (they're out of town), which obviously saves us a lot of money.  So I'll probably have some fun stories and pics from that to share.  :-)

I'm currently working on my follow-up to COA again...and came up with another idea for a story to follow on.  So now I've got one story that'll be even longer than COA coming directly after (currently titled "Fallout"), two longish stories, and at least 3 one-offs.  This world just gets bigger and bigger the more I think about it.  It's quite fun.  I just wish I had more time to write!

And in parting, I share with you this little tidbit that made me giggle.  I've been watching the Merlin Series 1 marathon on Syfy today as I worked around the house, which of course means I've seen the commercial for Series 2 about 85 times.  I find it highly amusing that they keep talking/showing clips about "Enchanted Love" and haven't once shown an Arthur/Gwen scene.  The short ad has Gwen/Lancelot ("my feelings for you will never fade") and the longer clip has them, Merlin/Freya and even Uther/Catrina...but no Arthur/Gwen!  Bwahahahaha.

So I had this incredibly fluffy dream (which is going to turn into an incredibly fluffy fic, but that's another story...and hopefully will be written soon before I forget everything) last night and I just had the BEST IDEA EVAR.

Children in Need - Merlin meets Doctor Who

They're both BBC shows, obviously the nature of DW makes it an easy cross over, and they film at the same time in Cardiff every year.

It should be a given that this should happen.  A full ep I could see being difficult, but a short clip for CIN?  That shouldn't be that hard to make happen.  We should start a letter writing campaign NOW.

So getting a hotel for Comic Con, for those of you who haven't had the pleasure (::eyeroll::), is always an adventure.  We haven't actually tried through their system before, choosing to stay at a hotel further out instead, but this year opted to try for a close hotel. 

So today was the day they sell all the discounted rooms that are arranged through Comic Con.  As I understand it, in the past it's been set up somehow where you do a standard booking type thing.  You know, going through every choice trying for what you want until you get something.  You doing all the work basically.  This year they tried out a new system, and the consensus is IT'S CRAP.

What we had to do was enter the website at 9am PST, enter in our names and dates...the usual, and then a list of our top 12 hotel choices.  Then they wanted to know our price limit.  Apparently they didn't care that if we didn't get the six hotels we'd chosen, we didn't want one of their choices.  Then we were supposed to get a response within 3-5 hours with the hotel we'd got, and instructions on payment if we wanted to take it.

9 hours later...we didn't get any of our 12 choices.  Nope, didn't even get a hotel I'd fucking heard of.  We're near the fucking airport.  

And it's not like we were in there very late or anything.  Nope, we got in right away.  And out of 12 choices neither of us (Matt and I both tried) got one.  Oh, and the site we're supposed to be able to use to look at our reservations?  Not even up yet...even though it's supposed to be.

Everyone I've talked to who has dealt with this before says this is the worst system they've ever tried.  As far as I can tell the entire community is in uproar.  Everyone I've seen online who submitted in the first five minutes didn't get a single one of their top 12.  One guy didn't submit until 9:30 and he got his #1.

They're going to get so many complaints and cancelations.  This is retarded.

Just got finished watching Little Dorrit and am very meh about it.  To be honest, I think the story would have worked better if they'd ended up brother and sister.  Though that could be due more to the lead actors having no chemistry whatsoever.  Sounds like another show I know...

Can somebody tell me though, I've never read it so I have no idea if this is actually Charles Dickens being ridiculous or Andrew Davies...the whole thing with "the house of Clenham coming down" actually resulting in the fucking house COLLAPSING...did Dickens write that?!  'Cause if so...OMG, the CHEESE.

I think I can safely say I am not a fan after having read and watched Great Expectations, and now watched both Bleak House and Little Dorrit.  It's just too melodramatic for the sake of the melodrama for me.  I can accept why people talk about how wonderful his writing is, why it's still so revered...it's just not to my taste.

I made the mistake of looking at some of the Merlin anon (in the shiny new, mod-free so we can be as awful as we like location)...and OMG, I hate these kind of people SO MUCH.

Bradley James is human and I doubt anyone thinks he's perfect. He has flaws. But you cannot judge him based on his friends and whatever stupid pictures they've put online. Just like you can't claim you really KNOW him from the video diaries. There are layers to every person, and we are never going to be privvy to all that information.

So just stop being fucking assholes and live your own lives. If this is the way you choose to spend all your free time then you have a very sad, and pathetic life. Being part of a fandom can be a wonderful thing, and really fun. But spending all that time just attacking people? That's disturbing.

This kind of shit is exactly why I all but withdrew from Doctor Who fandom. The Rose-hate just got too hard to take. You don't have to like the character, or the person...but you don't have to try and do everything you can to say horrible things to those who do.

And that's hopefully the last I have to say on this subject.


And now onto something happy...I'm rewatching Series 1 of Merlin in order to get some inspiration for my COA follow-up, and just got past Merlin's "I think I'm finally getting the hang of this whole deception lark" line...which just might be one of the most adorable things ever 'cause Colin is just too cute delivering it. ::LOVES::
